Mission Statement
Problem:
Most conversations about occupation focus primarily on the reasons for the occupation which inevitably leads to arguments about who is right and who is wrong, who is entitled to land, resources, etc… and who is not. Invariably, the violence of militarized occupation with its devastating consequences receives far less attention than a humane world should expect and demand.

Solution:
Attention: Occupation Film Festival proposes that an horizontal analysis of violent, militarized occupation, as an institutionalized campaign employed unilaterally to establish regionally unwelcome international relations helps focus on the violence of the method employed. This is accomplished, quite controversially, by focusing less on the oppressor and the oppressed alike and utilizing cross-sectional analysis, generic dialog focused on methodology detached somewhat from local context, and horizontally oriented scholarly work that reveals common denominators and patterns easily identified as universal to the violent options found in use regardless of contextual powerplays.
